Melinda Wood Allen

Rev. Melinda Wood Allen, this year’s music director of the Big Sky Retreat, is fully at home in the role, having held that position for over 20 years (1986-2011) at one of the country’s largest New Thought centers, Unity of Fort Worth, where she headed a music department over 100 members strong and even performed with them at Carnegie Hall.

Her great passion since her youth has been presenting Truth Principles through her music and creative arts performing career.  In 2011 she left music directing to share song and inspiration with a broader audience, presenting at NT centers, community action groups, recovery retreats, spiritual conferences, and even prisons, around the country.

A multi-award-winning singer/songwriter/actress and recording artist with an incredible  4-octave range, she is also a sought-after speaker, teacher, workshop facilitator and retreat leader.  Her musical “style” defies categorization, as her songs span genres from classical to Jazz, rock to gospel, country to pop and folk.   Melinda combines her passion for inspirational and transformative music with her knowledge and experience of spiritual principles to present programs that are heart-opening and life-changing.

For over a decade Melinda was a member of Unity Worldwide Ministries’ Music and Creative Arts Team. She has music-directed over a dozen Annual Spiritual Retreat Cruises with Rev. Chris Chenowith, is a regular teacher at various songwriting camps and currently serves on the Advisory Board for Empower Music and Arts.

As of 2018, Melinda is Senior Minister at Church of One Love in Dallas, TX—an independent New Thought center.   A returning 5-yr veteran contributor to Big Sky Retreat, she is thrilled to be back and to be an ongoing part of this beautiful tribe.
